Serving as the highlight of the summer—especially when combined with cultural demonstrations and the like—the festival of Holy Mary is replete with concerts for "island nights" and songs-and-dance parties throughout the season as organized by the City Committee responsible for the Cultural Development of Paros.
Every November 21, yet another impressive feast is celebrated in the Monastery of Holy Mary Kondiani, which is the Presentation of the Virgin. As for Marmara, the Birth of the Virgin Mary is held on September 8 with various entertainments and the customary annual festival. Indeed, the locals of Agairia, Kostas, and Lefkes are all renowned for their revelry and merriment every feast day as well. Case in point, every first Sunday after Easter, the celebration of Saint George is held. In Agaira, the mass during that Sunday is immediately followed by a public feast fit for kings.
Every June 26 and 27, the Feast of Saint John is observed, and the old Greek custom of Klidonas has been revived specifically for that particular feast. On the beach of Aliki, celebrants light fires to burn wreaths that were woven on May 1. Meanwhile, a mass is held in a simple church on the road to Saint Theodori. From there, people exchange homemade treats before starting the festivities with customary music and dancing.
On August 6, the Feast of Christ the Savior is celebrated as well. It's a popular feast in Paros, and a feast of fish takes place in Aliki once more, where everyone—residents and tourists alike—can take pleasure in the native alcoholic drink called Suma, fresh fish, and local wine. Then, on September 4, the Feast of the Holy Cross happens in the Church of Saint Giorgos, the main church of Agairia Village.
The Feast of the Holy Spirit, which lasts for three days, is a festival held in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Lefkes. The masses attend the celebration by the throngs, and a traditional feast and religious demonstrations also occur in the midst of all the boisterous merrymaking.
Every August 29, a festival is held in the Monastery of Saint Ioannis Kaparos, which is set in a awe-inspiring location. The cherry trees, vineyards, vegetation, and panoramic ocean view makes this feast as much a religious event as it is a sightseeing opportunity. The surrounding fields are also filled with delicious mushrooms and snails in the winter as well as scrumptious fresh greens in the summer. Granted, snails as entrees are an acquired taste, but there's no denying the prime location this special festival has.
The remaining Parian festivals of note occur in the following dates: July 27 is the Feast of Saint Panteliemonas, July 26 is the Feast of Saint Paraskevi held in Marathi, July 17 is the Feast of Saint Marina, and June 24 is the Feast of Saint Athnasios Parios.
