The Island of Paros: Museum of Byzantine Art Naoussa
| This captivating museum is surrounded by restored cells of Saint Athanasios, which was actually a catholic school during the Turkish domination of Paros. Icons of Parian and Cretan hagiographers from the Twelfth and Thirteenth Centuries, sculptures from the Venetian and Roman Periods, Woodcut devotional vessels, and artwork such as "Virgin Mary holding Christ" and "The Deposition of the Cross from the Sixteenth Century, "The Prayer" from the Fifteenth Century, as well as the only part of a fresco that was preserved in a Byzantine church located in Protoria, Naoussa from the Twelfth Century are all in display in this history-enriched museum. |
