| The
typical scene for this village, strangely enough, is seeing
an old lady with an incensory in her hand blessing the
narrow street, and then placing it carefully on her home's
windowsill. If you ever chance upon her through the alleys
of the village, she will greet you and invite you to have
some jam and cold water. Welcome to Marpissa—the amphitheater-like
home of hospitable villagers, on the rise at the foot
of Kefalos Hill.
As far as urban planning is concerned, Marpissa is a spectacle all its own. It has beautiful churches, arches, alleys, old houses, and mills which all complement the postcard feel of this structural wonder. Furthermore, even though Marpissa is a mountainous village, there are several beaches adjoining it as well as some very delightful settlements like Glifa, Lolantonis, Pirgaki, Drios, Chrissi Akti, Messada, Tserdakia, Logaras, Punda, Livadi, and Pisso.
